WHY I AM A DEMOCRAT
by
JEROME E. HORTON,
FORMER MEMBER OF THE CALIFORNIA BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
We stand in the gap between the rich and poor.
We are the difference between peace and war.
The advocates for universal health care and the guardians of public welfare.
We preserve the environment from corporate greed - and limit its use to human need.
We are the protectors of public education, public safety and the rights of individuals to form a more perfect union for the uplifting and protection of working families.
We believe government should not choose our religion, our mates, or our birth dates.
We believe we must strengthen our weakest link for in doing so we strengthen humanity.
We believe in the sanctity of individual rights,
We believe that the American dream is a human right that is not limited by borders, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
Because we believe that America is a Nation not a corporation and we believe that God blessed America to be a country of inclusion and not exclusion,
From the Roseville Junction Democratic Club......We thank you for your eloquent words
